Continental Runs to Stop … and do good

Great campaign and initiative from those guys that make tyres (tires … if you a yank like me

Day 4 and they’ve packed over 5000 sammiches! Well impressed

Latest vid here

They kicked off on the 26th of October from PE, comprising a mix of runners, cyclists and drivers in two teams that are pitted against each other and will have to overcome a series of challenges, harsh terrain and unpredictable conditions from PE to the finish line at the Kyalami Race Track on 2 November.

Apart from completing their allocated distances per day, the teams will also go head-to-head in a series of challenges from start to finish, commencing with a meal-packaging competition for Stop Hunger Now. The first team to pack the required number of meals will officially get clearance to get cracking on the arduous journey that awaits them. So pack fast peeps!

Each 21-member team consists of three runners, three cyclists, two drivers, an allrounder and support personnel. Former Bafana Bafana players Bradley Carnell and Helman Mkhalele will lead the troops as the respective captains of this year’s event. I drove with Helman on the Advanced Driving day last week and lets hope he leads better than he drives. Jokes!
